The Walk – Fourth Stop

The George and my B & B

Athelstan Walk

No better place than the oldest pub in England! The George at Norton St Philip. Used to be a Priory. If you can afford it! which I can’t on the charity walk. So book into a lovely B & B called the Plaine opposite the George. Very hospitable very reasonable and very friendly. Stephanie (owner) lends me her laptop to update this blog! Better not upload photos yet. Will do that later. Better set off on the next leg to Bradford on Avon where there is a Saxon Church.
Went across the road to the George. Good company there. A gallery owner from Bath (the 2 dragons) who had worked in Hong Kong, married a chinese girl and was now due to marry a Russian girl on Saturday in Bath. Had a very intresting chat and he commented on the lucky generation still acquiring possessions. When haggling over the price of a work of art if the item is not worth very much – jewellery from Morocco – he sometimes simply gives it to the customer! They then become very good customers. What do you call a customer who doesn’t pay anything!
